GREGOR DAVIDSON, LAVERNE EDMONDS & MARK KYDD – Stories of the Sea

Gregor Davidson and Laverne Edmonds will appear in Citadel Arts Group’s “Stories Of The Sea: Women, Whaling And War!”, a double-bill of maritime dramas that tell women’s neglected narratives, showing as part of Leith Festival.
“Dazzle” is the story of Eva Harriet Mackenzie, who studied at Edinburgh College of Art, drove ambulances in World War I and was hired as a painter for Dazzle, a process devised to confuse Geman U-boats by painting geometric patterns onto British vessels.
“Whit Aboot The Wimmen?” is inspired by memories of Leith ex-whalers and their families. It’s 1963 and the end of the Leith whaling industry… being a whaler’s wife was never easy, but having your husband home all the time might prove even more challenging! Mark Kydd directs.
Performances are on Tuesday 13th and Thursday 15th June at 7.30pm, with a 2.30 matinee on Wednesday 14th. The venue is Leith Dockers Club, 17 Academy Street, Leith EH6 7EE. Tickets (£8/£6 concession) can be purchased by emailing: ftennick@hotmail.com or by calling 01875340717
